Points from the heart

Back by popular demand, SBC donors are once again able to donate their points to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital or to the Safe Blood Africa program. First available in 2012, these charitable options were so popular with donors that our allotted funds for both programs maxed out in just a few months.
The Safe Blood Africa Project is a Rotary International World Community Service Project that seeks to improve blood banking in Nigeria. Point donations from Stanford Blood Center donors will be used toward the purchase of comfortable donor beds and laboratory equipment.
Many donors are fans of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital options. The points are used to purchase gift cards for the hospital. They’re then used to supply games, toys, and crafts for the children. For stem cell patients who are in isolation for 4-6 months, these gifts help reduce the effects of long-term isolation.
Donors may donate up to 1000 points per option. We expect the LPCH and Safe Blood Africa options to remain in the donor store through the spring.
