STANFORD, Calif.− Stanford Blood Center (SBC) is partnering with the Sharks Foundation for the 10th annual Save a Life Blood Drive Saturday, January 16 at SAP Center, North Concourse Entrance, 525 W. Santa Clara St. San Jose, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Additional partners Donate Life (organ donation) and the Be The Match (bone marrow donation) will also be on hand to register interested donors.

“The Sharks Foundation collects many types of donations during the year, but asking fans to donate their own blood can make an even bigger difference for local patients in need,” said Sharks Foundation Coordinator, Casey Roberts. “We greatly appreciate our amazing partnership with Stanford Blood Center over the past 10 years and are excited to continue this collaboration well into the future.”

Donors will be entered into the “Power Hour” prize drawings for several chances to win merchandise and autographed memorabilia. This year, the grand prize will be San Jose Sharks tickets and a special VIP pre-game behind-the-scenes tour!

Following the tour, winners will be escorted to ice-level for the unique opportunity to watch the team exit the locker room and skate through the Shark Head before the start of the game. All attendees must be at least 16 years of age or older to enter the SAP Center for this event.

“Wintertime is an especially difficult time to maintain adequate supplies of blood because people are often unavailable, travelling or ill,” said SBC Spokesperson, Loren Magaña. “We are encouraging all existing donors and first-time donors to come out and give the gift of lifesaving blood to support local patients.”
