We are pleased to welcome our new technology leader, Jacqueline Shen, who comes to us from Tyco International after 17 years as the IT director for their global organization. She joined Stanford Blood Center in December and now enjoys keeping her feet on the ground after years of travel abroad.

We are grateful to have someone with over two decades of experience come to us at this time. There are several initiatives going on at Stanford University that she’s had to quickly learn about and comply to. Though her background is in manufacturing and not the medical field, she looks forward to learning the Blood Center business and incorporating her past experience to bring added value to SBC. Learning all the acronyms and new terminology has been challenging, but she’s thankful that everyone has been very helpful and patient.

Jacqueline was born in Taiwan, her home until age nine when her family immigrated to the U.S. “Our plane landed at SFO and I’ve never left.” She now resides on the Peninsula and wonders who would ever want to leave.

She’s settled in after her many years of international travel, but hasn’t quite settled down. With 12- and 14-year-old boys, she now spends her time traveling around to their many, many… many basketball games.

Jacqueline has felt a warm welcome from her colleagues. “Everybody has been so nice and welcoming. It’s been such a comfortable transition for me.” Though you may not see her in our donor rooms, know that she’s busy at work making sure all of the computers, registration screens, and complex machines are running smoothly.
