We’re in the final stretch of the Stanford Blood Center (SBC) Give Good campaign, which ends Sunday, January 12. Please consider donating if you can! You’ll extend the impact of your blood donation, because for each donor who rolls up their sleeve, a donation will be made towards lifesaving vaccines and other medical needs for animals to the Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV). You’ll also receive a collectible tote bag as a thank-you gift for your generous spirit.

So far, our partnership with HSSV has proved to be very rewarding and heartwarming. We’ve especially enjoyed seeing all the pictures of pets our blood donors and friends have posted on our Facebook Give Good album, like Ruckus the American Eskimo dog here!

Our friends at HSSV have enjoyed the experience, as well. Stephanie Ladeira, HSSV’s Vice President, Development, said, “The enthusiasm we’ve seen from clients, staff, and volunteers eager to participate in the Give Good campaign has been terrific. Our programs touch human and animal lives, so this collaboration speaks to our mission to save and enhance lives. We’re looking forward to seeing the good that will come from this effort, to those who rely on both organizations.”

Our blood drive on January 5 at HSSV was a success, with 73 blood donors presenting. SBC Account Manager Monica Doleshel-Aguirre, who helped organize that blood drive, commented, “This partnership has been so much fun for SBC. It is just a win-win situation, because while we’re helping to save human lives, we’re also helping to save animals. The enthusiastic response from many of our blood donors shows that our community has a soft spot for helping animals as well as people in need.”

If you would like to donate before Give Good ends January 12, you can make an appointment at any of our centers for Friday, January 10, or Saturday, January 11. Or, you can donate at Stanford University’s mobile drive on Friday, January 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at White Plaza, 519 Lasuen Mall, Stanford, CA 94305. If San Jose is more convenient for you, we have a drive on Sunday, January 12 (the last chance for Give Good!) at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126 (appointments encouraged).

Your donation will be especially appreciated right now, because coming out of the winter holidays, we have a critical need for a number of blood types. In particular, there is a great need in our community for all Rh-negative blood types (O-, A-, B-, and AB-) and platelets. For all of those reasons, we are grateful for all of our donors who have made it in this week. Thanks very much for your support!
