Sharks Foundation to Host Blood Drive at HP Pavilion During Morning Skate

STANFORD, Calif. -- The Sharks Foundation and Stanford Blood Center will team up to host a blood drive Feb. 19 at HP Pavilion in San Jose. Donate Life California and Be The Match will also be on hand to register donors interested in joining organ or bone marrow donation registries.

“The Sharks Foundation has had tremendous success partnering with the Stanford Blood Center for our annual ‘Save a Life’ drive,” said foundation manager Jeff Cafuir said. “Both the Sharks Foundation and Stanford Blood Center are committed to making a positive impact in our community. Each year, more and more of our fans are willing to donate and we hope this trend continues in the future.”

Any fan who attempts to donate blood or who registers for the bone marrow registry will be able to watch the practice for the San Jose Sharks (at 10:30 a.m.) and Colorado Avalanche (at 11:30 a.m.), who will play that evening at 7:30 p.m. Fans who attempt to donate blood will also be entered into a drawing for the chance to win Sharks prizes. Appointments for the drive are limited. Only donors with appointments will be allowed to attend the blood drive and watch the morning practice.

The Sharks drive is the largest mobile blood drive for Stanford Blood Center each year. In 2010, the drive collected 338 units of blood.
