Donating - How to Request an Appointment

Whole Blood Donation

First, please review these basic whole blood donation requirements:
  • You must be in good health and feel good on the day of donation. No cold or flu symptoms or infections for at least 48 hours.
  • You must weigh 110 pounds or more.
  • You must be at least 17-years-old.
  • You must meet blood pressure and pulse criteria during the
    mini-physical prior to donation.
  • If you have had hepatitis, you may not donate blood.
  • Photo identification is required at time of donation.

Automated Blood Collection (Apheresis)

First, please review these automated blood collection criteria:
  • You must have previously donated blood at the Stanford Blood Center
  • You should not take aspirin in the 36 hours prior to donation.
  • Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs are OK.
