Blood Center

Success at the Shark tank!

Brian Sams was born with an immune deficiency that his parents and doctors discovered when he was six months old. He underwent 13 years of IVIG therapy that helped his immune system gain strength. These days, Brian is doing much better; he's in his second year of college, and is studying law enforcement. He coaches a high school women's volleyball team, and is a constant advocate for blood donations. "He gives back so much to our community," said Brian's proud mom Pam. "He's grown up to be a truly great person, and we owe that to hundreds of blood donors."
A Sharks hockey enthusiast, we met Brian and his family at our blood drive with the Sharks Foundation on January 29. The blood drive broke our record (234) for most units donated at a blood drive—we received 261! A huge thank you to Brian, the San Jose Sharks players and Foundation, and especially the wonderful donors that made it out to HP Pavilion!

The Sharks wrote about the drive too. Click here.
